Abby Jeffers is a sophomore studying journalism at Ohio University‘s E. W. Scripps School of Journalism in Athens, Ohio. She is a recipient of the Wood Cutler Scholar Award, a full merit scholarship that includes funding for four enrichment experiences: an outdoor leadership experience, a public service internship, a professional internship, and an international experience.
On campus, Abby is an on-air DJ and News Editor for ACRN Media, Ohio University’s student radio group and music publication. Her weekly specialty show, The Rainbow Hour, is on Mondays at 9 p.m. In the editorial department, she curates, edits and writes music news articles for ACRN.com.
Abby also works as a reporter for The Post, the independent student newspaper at Ohio University.
Outside of class, Abby runs Indientry, a music publication for which she creates biweekly content, including album reviews, interviews, features, concert photos and a monthly podcast titled The Nextwave Sessions. Abby also serves as the editor for Qth Magazine, a website that hosts media and art from LGBTQ+ contributors, and she writes news and opinion articles for the website.
She has written for several other publications, and she has written music news and reviews for In The Record Store‘s website and magazine and has also participated in a weekly music column for ThisWeek Community News. Abby also occasionally writes and edits feature articles for Sophisticated Living Columbus.
Abby is also a Resident Assistant at Ohio University, and when she is not working on bulletin boards and floor events, she can usually be found working at the closest local coffee shop, at the dog park with her two poodles or trying to convince her peers to support local musicians.
