As far as Valentine’s Day and I go back, it’s been “complicated.” First, it was single teenage angst, then it was anti-consumerist frustration. And though this is my first Valentine’s Day in a relationship, I won’t be able to see her for another week and a half; instead, I get to see all of the couples who aren’t long-distance walking around campus holding hands. Needless to say, I have mixed feelings about today.

I could take this as an opportunity to once again be cynical about February 14. It is, after all, another reminder of how far I am from seeing my girlfriend.
